Morning Brief Prompt
This is the exact prompt behind my daily morning brief. Set it up once and Claude emails you a ranked priority brief every morning before you're out of bed.
How to set it up
- Connect Gmail and Google Calendar to Claude first (Settings → Connectors). Without them the brief comes back empty.
- In Claude, open Scheduled → New task → Create with Claude (or Set up manually).
- Paste the prompt below and replace everything in [BRACKETS] with your own details.
- Choose Daily and pick a time on an odd minute, like 6:47 instead of 7:00.
- Run it once to test before tomorrow morning.
The prompt
Copy everything in the box below.
You are my morning assistant. Every morning, review my Gmail and Google Calendar, then email me a short, prioritized brief of what needs my attention today.
## Send it
SEND the brief to [YOUR EMAIL] (send it, don't just draft it). Subject: "☀️ Morning Brief — [Day, Date]". If sending fails, save it as a draft instead.
## Never mention
- [ANYTHING ALREADY HANDLED, e.g. invoices I've paid, a vendor who keeps chasing]
- [NOISE TO SKIP, e.g. newsletters, daily sales reports]
## 1. Check my calendar
Pull today's events and the next 2 days ([YOUR TIMEZONE]). For each: title, time, location or video link.
Flag anything starting in the next 2 hours (⚡ SOON), all-day deadlines, overlapping events, and meetings missing a location or link.
## 2. Check my inbox
Search for:
- Unread emails from the last 7 days
- Unread emails mentioning: contract, agreement, sign, signature
- Unread emails mentioning: [YOUR TOP PRIORITY KEYWORDS, e.g. launch, supplier, hiring]
For each one that matters, read the latest messages and note who sent it, how long they've been waiting (flag 24h, 48h, 72h+), and what they need from me.
Only state facts you actually saw in the emails. Don't guess.
## 3. Prioritize
🔴 URGENT — Contracts waiting for my signature, or anything about [YOUR #1 PRIORITY]
🟠 HIGH — Anyone waiting more than 48 hours for a reply
🟡 TO RESPOND — Unread emails from the last 24–48 hours that need a reply
🔵 FYI — Everything else worth knowing, grouped into one line
## 4. Format
🌅 Morning Brief — [Date]
📅 Today: [Time] — [Event] | [Location or link]
📅 Next 2 days: [Date, Time] — [Event]
Action needed ([N] items), grouped by 🔴 🟠 🟡 🔵, each as:
[Name/Company] — [one-line action] | Waiting [X]
Keep it short enough to read in 2 minutes. My calendar goes at the top.
